When will the Ocala Zoological Park & Aquarium open?

Our master plan includes habitats such as Capybara Cove, the Sulcata Tortoise Trail, the Florida Discovery Zone, a walk-through aviary, Flamingo Lagoon, and a future aquarium. Long-term plans include an African Savanna and Predator Ridge.
Will there be an aquarium on site?
Yes. Our aquarium will feature freshwater and saltwater exhibits, interactive touch tanks, and reef displays designed to inspire curiosity about aquatic life and marine conservation.
How is the zoo being funded?
Development is supported through founding memberships, donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships. Every contribution directly supports animal care, habitat construction, and conservation programs.
Where will the zoo be located?
The Ocala Zoological Park & Aquarium will be located in Ocala, Florida. Full address and directions will be published closer to opening day.

When will the zoo start hiring?
We expect to begin recruiting for key roles during the later stages of development, ahead of our public opening. Open positions will be posted on our careers page and social channels.
What types of jobs will be available?
Opportunities will span animal care and zookeeping, veterinary services, education and guest experience, aquarists, facilities and grounds, guest services, and administration.
Do you offer volunteer opportunities?
Yes. We will welcome volunteers to support education programs, events, and conservation initiatives once we are operational. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when applications open.

Do you offer internships for students?
We plan to offer internships in animal care, conservation, and education for college students and recent graduates. Details will be announced as programs launch.

What is your animal welfare policy?
The health and well-being of every animal is our top priority. All habitats are designed to provide safe, enriching, and sustainable environments, and our care standards follow established zoological best practices.
What is your refund and ticket policy?
Tickets are non-refundable but may be rescheduled in the event of park closures. Founding memberships are valid for one year from the membership start date.
Can guests feed or touch the animals?
Guest interactions are limited to carefully supervised experiences designed for both animal welfare and guest safety. Feeding is only permitted in designated areas under staff guidance.
What is the policy on service animals?
Trained service animals are welcome. For the safety of our animals and guests, pets and emotional support animals are not permitted inside the park.
